![]() ![]() Bayonetta herself is very vulnerable to damage, but she does have a few abilities to help manage the hordes of enemies that get thrown her way. Dedicated fans adore it, but Vanquish never really succeeded in making a big splash outside of that.ĭespite perhaps dialing down the difficulty a little bit from the first game, Bayonetta 2 is still a very unforgiving experience which will severely punish the player for making even the smallest of mistakes during combat. These secret abilities are absolutely vital for taking on the swarms of enemies and gigantic bosses that are thrown Sam's way in this enthralling action-whirlwind of a game. The truth is, though, Vanquish doesn't tell the player about a lot of the suit's more in-depth techniques, such as how it enables Sam to enter slow motion after a kick, or the melee attacks that can fling him towards an enemy even if they're a good distance away from him. It only has a certain amount of juice, so players will need to learn to use it to maximum effect just before it runs out, otherwise it will enter a lengthy cooldown. The most important part of the suit is the boost, which will allow Sam to fly around the stage at lightning speed. Vanquish puts players in the shoes of Sam Gideon, a super soldier who's kitted out with an Augmented Reaction Suit that lets him slide, flip, and kick his way around the battlefield without even breaking a sweat. Much of the difficulty of MadWorld arises later in the game and/or in optional content, but it certainly packs a punch in places. ![]() There are also the Bloodbath Challenges that players can go out of their way to complete in order to score a few extra points: As the name suggests, these can get out of hand incredibly easily considering just how many enemies appear on-screen at once. Considering that players only have three lives per level, there's precious little room for mistakes to be made.Ī few of the stages also include vehicle-based combat which, while visually stunning, is very hard to navigate with the Wii's less-than-ideal controls. For the first few hours, the enemies in the game are extremely weak and nothing more than an obstacle to break up the exploration, but they eventually start becoming much more aggressive. When PlatinumGames first jumped onto the scene in 2009, they kicked things off with a bang with the release of MadWorld, a chaotic action game that features an incredibly unique art style that seems heavily inspired by the comic book Sin City. ![]()
